Daily Action, Day 1-6

Day 1: September 10, 2023

I had a meaningful classroom session where I engaged my students in a thought-provoking discussion about the definition of learning and encouraged them to share their personal insights on what learning means to each of them.

Day 2: September 11, 2023

In order to establish a meaningful connection with the traditional practice of a talking circle, I have initiated an educational exercise named "Me Bag" for my students. For this activity, I have kindly requested that they bring a personal bag containing items of significance to them to our upcoming morning meeting. During this session, each student will have the opportunity to eloquently share the narratives behind their chosen items. This endeavor has been undertaken with the intent of fostering a sense of community and mutual understanding within our learning environment. Looking forward to see how it'll go. :)

Day3: September 12, 2023

Today, I'm taking action in my classroom by implementing a "Passion Project" or "Creative Learning Day" with a focus on differentiation. This decision was influenced by our recent exploration into the concept of effective teaching.

Today's classroom activity involves allowing my students to choose a topic or subject that genuinely interests them. However, I'm taking it a step further by tailoring the depth and complexity of their projects to their individual abilities and needs. I'm providing various resources and support options, ensuring that each student can research, create, and present their findings or projects at a level that suits them best.

Through this activity, I aim to channel the essence of the effective teaching, while embracing the principles of differentiation. It's about engaging students on a personal level, cultivating that intrinsic love for learning, and recognizing and respecting their unique learning profiles.

Day 4: September 13, 2023

To actively implement fairness and decision-making in my 5th-grade classroom, I engaged my students in a collaborative exercise. Together, we co-created our classroom rules and expectations.

During our discussion, we talked about why classroom rules are crucial for fairness and mutual respect. We brainstormed ideas and then split into small groups to discuss and prioritize these rules.

Each group presented their top rules, and we had an open, respectful debate about which rules should be part of our classroom norms.Ultimately, we held a class vote, and the students decided on the rules through a majority vote. Each student then signed a commitment to follow these rules.

We prominently displayed the finalized rules in our classroom and made sure to revisit them regularly throughout the year. This activity empowered my students, making them feel more involved and responsible for ensuring fairness in our learning environment.

Day 5: September 14, 2023

In line with my journal reflection, I've been incorporating a daily routine of revisiting the enduring understandings before each lesson. This practice helps me maintain a strong focus on these fundamental concepts, aligning my teaching approach with UDL principles and fostering a richer learning experience for my students.

 Day 6: September 15, 2023

Today, I actively incorporated Eduaide.Ai's personalized insights and recommendations into my lesson planning. By carefully reviewing the data provided by Eduaide.Ai, I made adjustments to my teaching approach, ensuring that each student's individual learning needs were addressed. This allowed me to create more individualized and engaging learning experiences for my students while harnessing the power of technology as a valuable teaching tool.
