Blog Entries, Levels Of Emotional Self-Regulation, Day 6

September 15, 2023 As a teacher, I've learned how important it is to understand how students handle their emotions. Here are examples for each of the four observe-assess-respond areas: -I once saw a student in my class getting really upset during a group activity. They were fidgety, talking loudly, and seemed really frustrated. -After looking into it, I realized the student probably struggled with social anxiety in group settings. Knowing this, I decided to make some changes. -I offered the student the choice to work alone sometimes and gave them tips on managing anxiety, like deep breathing. -Over time, the student started feeling more comfortable in group activities, but there were still moments of stress. So, I kept supporting them. In a nutshell, understanding and helping students with their emotions creates a better learning environment. It's about caring for their feelings alongside teaching lessons.

September 13, 2023 Unit and Lesson Analysis- Day 4 Grade: 5 Unit: Fundamentals of Reading Fiction & Making Meaning: I n comparison, my unit plan has a broader scope, spanning the entirety of a quarter, and encompasses key elements such as learning objectives, essential questions, and enduring understandings. It also features comprehensive details about learning strategies, tactics, and routines, along with the incorporation of educational standards and various instructional resources. On the other hand, the UDL lesson plan is highly specific, offering intricate daily guidance and implementing all three principles of Universal Design for Learning. It focuses on a single lesson with a strong emphasis on flexibility and inclusivity to meet the needs of all students within that specific class session. In my opinion, these two planning approaches can work together to create a cohesive and inclusive learning experience. September 13, 2023 Unit Reviewing/ Enduring Understanding- Day 4 As...

Effective Teaching Journal Reflection, Day 1-6

Day 1: September 10, 2023 We seem to fail as teachers/educators if we do not challenge, or expose our students to act or make connections in real life situations.  What is learning?  Learning is the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, or comprehension through study, experience, or teaching, leading to a change in behavior or the ability to perform new tasks or become a problem solver.  *As a group, we must come up with a unique learning deffiniton. Effective learning is when you learn in a way that helps you understand, remember, and use what you've learned to the fullest. This means using methods and tricks that make it easier to grasp and remember information and using that knowledge in real-life situations. Effective learning usually means being actively involved, thinking carefully, practicing, getting feedback, and adjusting how you learn based on your own preferences and requirements. Daily Action, Day 1-6

Day 1:  September 10, 2023 I had a meaningful classroom session where I engaged my students in a thought-provoking discussion about the definition of learning and encouraged them to share their personal insights on what learning means to each of them. Day 2: September 11, 2023 In order to establish a meaningful connection with the traditional practice of a talking circle, I have initiated an educational exercise named "Me Bag" for my students. For this activity, I have kindly requested that they bring a personal bag containing items of significance to them to our upcoming morning meeting. During this session, each student will have the opportunity to eloquently share the narratives behind their chosen items. This endeavor has been undertaken with the intent of fostering a sense of community and mutual understanding within our learning environment. Looking forward to see how it'll go. :) Day3: September 12, 2023 Today, I'm taking action in my classroom by implementing ...
