Blog Entries, Levels Of Emotional Self-Regulation, Day 6
September 15, 2023 As a teacher, I've learned how important it is to understand how students handle their emotions. Here are examples for each of the four observe-assess-respond areas: -I once saw a student in my class getting really upset during a group activity. They were fidgety, talking loudly, and seemed really frustrated. -After looking into it, I realized the student probably struggled with social anxiety in group settings. Knowing this, I decided to make some changes. -I offered the student the choice to work alone sometimes and gave them tips on managing anxiety, like deep breathing. -Over time, the student started feeling more comfortable in group activities, but there were still moments of stress. So, I kept supporting them. In a nutshell, understanding and helping students with their emotions creates a better learning environment. It's about caring for their feelings alongside teaching lessons.
